Subject: Re:[Leica] Film & Airport Security X-Ray Machines & Munich

I traveled around Asia and Europe a year ago carrying a handbag full of 100
speed films-Reala, Provia and APX100. Also, I had a few rolls of 400 speed
films. At least 22 airport hand baggage scans ocurred over 4 months. None
of the film was damaged. Please note HAND BAGGAGE X-rays. I think the
luggage scanners are much more powerful.

Also, as was mentioned on the list a while ago, at Lufthaven Munchen last
May they had to take my Fuji GS645S apart because they had never seen such
a camera. In 1989 I passed through the old Munich airport with a 1962
Pentax H1a slr. The security guy would not believe this manual camera had
no batteries. "There are no cameras without batteries", he declared. It
took a security supervisor to clear me for the flight to Berlin. BTW, these
guys were Americans at the Pan Am check-in. I doubt they were even born
when the camera was made.
