"It's a motor!" :)

Finally my R8 motor arrived today after a gestation period of 4 years, 3
months, two days, 22 hours and 32 seconds! One of the longest in
history! :)

However, it's a "HONEY OF A MOTOR!" Everything fits like a dream to
hand, it's quiet and quick. And for those R8 folks with winders may I
suggest trading it in and acquire a motor. And for those of you who
have R8 and neither winder nor motor, start saving for it as it really
completes this camera in a manner that it should've seen the light of
day when the camera came on the market.

You may not feel you need a motor, but let me assure you it completes
the full feel of this camera and enhances the operation extremely well.
It balances in hand much easier and makes the camera handle like a
dream. Actually I think some of you folks who said it was too big for
your hand, you may find this is the answer and you might want to have
another look at it with motor attached.

Do I sound sold? Your darn right I am, as I've used motors on Leica
SLR's since the first motors were available and this has to be the
finest handling and operating baby of them all.

Now I just have to wait for the next one. Geeeeze I hope I don't have to
go through that long a pregnancy again! :)
