I havent seen the handiwork up close BUT I've corresponded w/ YouxinYe. Some
of you may have noticed his work on Ebay. He is taking badly pitted IIIC &
repainting them in various colored enamels. He also offers red shutter
curtains.

Recovering Leicas

                                                       I saw the following
posted on the rec.photo.marketplace.35mm newsgroup and
                                                       thought it would be
of interest to the list:

                                                       (I do not known the
author and cannot vouch for it!)

                                                       I have found a
talented craftsman who recovers Leica screw mount and M mount
                                                       cameras with
replacement covering (to replace old, dried, cracked
                                                       Vulcanite).
                                                       The work is fantastic
and looks very original, as close to the Leica
                                                       covering as can be
found (even Leica does not sell matching material to the
                                                       older cameras, just
M6 covering material). Most people don't realize that
                                                       the material Leica
used originally is not leather, but a synthetic material
                                                       and the replacement
material is similar in grain, feel and appearance. The
                                                       charges for replacing
the covering start at $55 including all materials
                                                       (depending on model,
charges can go to $80). He also does CLA service at
                                                       extra charges. If
you're interested, email him directly at wye7@yahoo.com
