Enough, already!

I recently acquired an ancient (1954) Summicron collapsible 50mm lens. I
intend to use it on my M3 (1955) with an MR meter. The speed/f.stop scales
don't match - due to the M3 being produced before the switch to the current
numbering system. However, it appears that I can use this combination as
the dial on the meter and the shutter speed does indicate about a 1/2 stop
variation on the slower speeds up to 1/250. Is there anything wrong with
this approach?
