He still did still photography back in '76 when he lived in Nova Scotia,
from what I recall.  He was doing some experimental things with Super 8,
(like burning the emulsion slightly) and his still photography was quite
avant garde.  He would scratch his film for effect, and mount several
slides on a typewritten sheet, with the text creating a synergy that the
photos alone could not convey.
