You use an incident meter by placing it in the same light as your subject,
and pointing it towards the camera. The idea is that you are measuring the
light falling on the subject, rather than the light reflected off the
subject. So mounting it on your camera wouldn't be much help, especially
when you're using a tripod. ;-)
