The mounting block on the bottom of the MR-4 can be aligned to prevent the meter from ever touching the top plate of the camera. Look on the bottom of the meter. The mounting block appears to be held on by five screws; two small, and three large. But in fact it's held on by the three large screws. The two small screws are set screws that adjust the meter's alignment around the fore/aft horizontal axis. By loosening all three large screws slightly, and tightening the tiny set screw closer to the left end of the meter, and then re-tightening the three large screws you will rotate the meter and lift the left end away from the top of the camera. Voila! No more scratching the top plate. Peter Jon White
