Of course it isn't going to perform five times better.  There is not a
linear relationship between price and performance.  Disregarding the fact
that you're paying a premium for the Leica badge, it is a question of
diminishing returns.  Probably 1/2 of the price of the Leica is for the last
5-10% in performance of that lens.
