The only thing that is communicated to the body by the bayonet mount is the
focal length of the lens.   This is done so that the correct frame is
projected in the viewfinder.

Since you are not viewing through the lens like on an SLR, you are
effectively metering in a stop down mode.   There is no need to communicate
the aperture to the body.
