My impression FWIW is that I get less *perceived* dof with the asph 35/1.4
wide open, because some of it is actually sharp! The pre-asph had many
wonderful qualities but sharpness wide open was not really one of them, with
the result that there was so much glow and confusion, the dof was quite hard
to work out. Or, in another sense, I suppose it had zero d.o.f! So maybe
you're right.
