Please correct me if I am wrong but what you are saying is:

- -loaded film normally (film tongue firmly in take-up spool).

- -shot "x" number of pictures and film did not advance and there were no
unusual crunchy noises and the advance felt normal.

- -continued shooting and the film started advancing properly though you
noticed no difference in feel or noise.

Well, if the above scenario is true, it sounds to me that you have problems
in the film advance mechanism. Time to see your favourite Leica tech.
