Hi Art,

A lot of possible reasons...First, the printer: have you done the head
cleaning and alignment checks? Do you have the correct paper set? Also,
be sure to turn OFF the "printer color management" and the "color
management" in the driver. Do not waste time and money on non-Epson
papers; as long as you are using the Epson inks, you will always get
best results with Epson papers. Print in RGB mode. As for scanning
resolution, I always scan at the highest resolution my scanner will give
me. Some people say that this is a waste of disk space and slows
Photoshop down by making the files bigger, but blank CDs are cheap and I
want to get every pixel out of my slide or negative.

Those are the things that immediately come to mind. If you are new to
all this, I recommend a book by Blatner and Fraser, "Real World
Photoshop". It is readily available at Amazon or in any decent
bookstore.
