I don't know Sally Mann from Eve, nor her photography (landscape, children, or otherwise) but it seem to me that it's the children of the repressed anally-retentive who grow up demented, especially if there's an unhealty dose of religion thrown in for good measure. The children of those who on the opposite end of the scale (free-wheeling, do-anything libertairians) seem to do much better.
