Once a lens is mounted on an SLR, looking through the VF is unlikely to
detect those small speckled impurities nor miniscule bubbles. All these
minor blemishes are detected by close scrutiny either by looking through
the front of the lens or through the back, whether or not the lens is
mounted on the camera.
