Just to clarify these confusing statements about the Cl's range finder. The
range finder focuses just as accurately no mater what the aperture is set to.
There is no mechanical connection between the range finder and the aperture on
any lens mounted to a CL. However, because the CL's range finder base is
shorter than the M series the accuracy of the CL's range finder is somewhat
less than the M's. Leitz engineers felt that the range finder was not
accurate enough to focus a 90 mm lens at apertures greater than f4 because the
d.o.p. becomes so narrow. You must remember that Leitz' standards are very
high and in normal photography you may not notice the any image degradation
from a slightly less accurate range finder.
