My strange experience when I got the Nikon SB-24 was that I didn't need to rig
up some extra battery thing for it like I did with my Vivitars. I could just
shoot like crazy with AA's!!! Amazingly more battery efficient! And it wasn't
the TTL feature that did it course I had some Vivitar TTL flash, the 4600 I
think and it worked the same as my 283's and 285HV's as far as butteries go.
I think that Nikon or whoever makes the Nikon flash got Way ahead in the
thyristor end of it. Metz as well.
