The usual remedy is to replace the rangefinder mechanism with the M6
viewfinder.

However, one of the most important point of using a M3 is to use its x.91
finder.  You lose this by replacing the assembly.

There are a few places which will actually resilver and reglue the beam
splitter.  Hayata Camera in Tokyo is one such place, but the cost is quite
prohibitive (close to $1000), though not much different from the cost of
replacement.
