The M6 TTL need the 3501 as of M1 (modification 1).

By the way, Jonathan Eastland confirm on page 78, that the
flash contact which is the closest of the front of the
camera is not in use presently on the M6TTL (and R8). (page 78)
This was also in the instruction book of the Leica SF20 flashgun.
Which explain why the Contax's TLA Extension Cord 100 works
on the M6TTL without problem, even with only 3 contacts
instead of 4 on the M6TTL flash socket.
