I recently promised myself not to try and be funny on the LUG ever again,
which promise I have blithely violated. US$575 for a new curtain was a
joke, albeit an un-funny joke.

I don't know what Solms plans are but I can tell you in today dollars it
doesn't cost no stinkin $575 to replace the curtain. I recently proved that
lens' caps do have a function when I burned a hole in my shutter curtain
(the curtain with the spot). Sherry Kraunter charged me around $250 to
replace the curtain and do a CLA, plus insurance and return shipping. The
curtain was around a $60 part.

Solms plans for the gray meter spot to turn yellow at approximately sixteen
years, at which point the camera must go back to have the curtain replaced
at a cost of nearly US$575.00. Really, Javier, just keep taking
pictures...when your meter seems to be going off a bit have your shutter
speeds checked and keep taking pictures. Getting consistently bad exposures
at both high and low speeds? Get the meter calibrated by a good repair
person and then keep taking pictures. Follow these guidelines for about
fifty years at which point your children can keep taking pictures with your
Ms.

Hi
I have been wondering about the longevity of metered Ms for
awhile. Specifically, is there any indication that the colour of the
white curtain dot won't change with age to something yellowish
or off white? That would throw off the meter for sure.
