Actually, the Pacific Plate is moving northeast over the Continental Plate.
However, your M4 will be back and forth to Sherry's or DAG's (and their
successors) about 7,500,000 times before this becomes a problem for Texas.
However, Texans shouldn't be too smug, there is a far greater threat to
their north and east in the New Madrid fault which could move in such a way
that Texans may become sushi.

Public Service Announcement

The Pacific plate is RISING over the continental plate of North America.
California is not going to sink into the sea like a modern day Atlantis. I
am not familiar with the exact drift directions but conceivably California
may run right over Texas!
