Subject: [Leica] Lens serial number question
From: JBelen@aol.com

I recently read this about the f2.0 Summicron lens.....
"...... is numbered 3,2xx,xxx which indicates it is a better performer for
the serious shooter rather than the collector. # above the 3mil# indicate the
latest coatings on the lens."

Does this "latest coating" result in a noticable difference in picture
quality? What year of manufacture does this serial number (3,2xx,xxx)
represent? Are all, or most of the lenses in stores today bearing this serial
number?
Thanks,
Jack
