Teach traditional darkroom techniques first.  Partly it's because it's a
more hands-on thing, partly because it's a more social thing, partly because
of the fascination of seeing the print in the developer and the satisfaction
of working a craft.  But another consideration is that (I believe) using the
computerized tools is easier to do if you can relate what the image
manipulation is doing to work in the darkroom.
