I've tried this method, but have found (at least with my hands) that there
is just no way to comfortably cover the framelines window with any finger on
either hand while holding the camera and focusing (obviously, you need to
focus or else there'd be no need to eliminate the RF patch flare).

But black tape works well enough.  Perhaps scotch tape that's been darkened
with a magic marker would be close to the "shade" being promoted here.
