I use a Polaris incident meter, which will easily fit into a shirt pocket. It 
also reads flash, and has a reflective accessory attachment available. It's 
very lightweight, matches the readings on my MUCH larger Minolta Flashmeter 
exactly, and uses one AA cell for power.

I've beat it around for four years with no problems.

I think it's about $200.00 at B&H
