Using only the Gitzo 1371   3 way heads, the weight savings is .24 pounds
going from the standard to the magnesium design.  ( 20% decrease in weight)
1.29 to 1.05 pounds.

Bogen model 3029 has the same weight carrying capability, at 1/3 the price
and weighs the same as the magnesiium Gitzo head.

Neither is good enough!

What about all the other stuff that makes up the head, like the base of the
head?  Why can't that be made from something light and strong?  Make the
screw from Titanium, not brass or steel.

The target should be to cut the weight in half or less.
