Hi Vick,
Best unhanding instructions from a guy who's put many a Leica lens down on any "you name it surface
and I've put them on"  Never put the lens so the lens is standing vertical! Unless it's one of the
longer ones with the rubber bumper ring built into the lens shade.

Best bet, put them down lying flat! Then they can't be knocked over nor lens surface inadvertently
scratched.
Besides it's much easier than having a cardiac arrest! ;-)
