I remember coming out of the theatre with an overwhelming claustrophobia.  I really needed a beer after that one. For me, the measure of that movie's quality was that I saw the original German release, I speak not a word of German, and I don't remember reading a single subtitle.  A real tour de force.

Unfortunately I wasn't into Leicas at the time, so I don't remember the camera. Now of course the memory is ruined for me because I missed such a crucial plot element...
