FWIW

The local chapter of DALUG (Denver Area Leica Users Group) had it's monthly
outing to Denver Pro Photo for yet another Leica Days and a chance to see
how much I was going to spend this time. Not wanting to be a party poop I
finally succumbed to the siren song of the 100 APO R, totaling up all of the
available credit on all of the cards and yes, boys and girls, I bought it.

Linda, our Leica rep, graciously pointed out that with the dollar falling
and with rebates coming to an end January 31, 2001 in fact there was going
to be a price *increase* come the first of February, I had better plunk down
my deutschmarks now or forever be sorry. The deal won't be finalized till
next week, but upon arriving home I discovered that in fact I had enough
available cash thus avoiding the need to see my local loan shark, McVisa.
There is a God!

Ever the one to whet the appetite, Linda the Leica rep also dropped the
morsel that within two years we will be seeing digital backs for *both* the
R8 (yes! I won't have to get the D30 and the R>Eos adapter ring) and the M6.
She said that there was something in the German language version of the
Leica.com page but I have been unable to locate any documentary evidence of
this dream. Anyone else have fuel to add to this rumor mill?
