I love the optimism of kids.

"If I lick that fence post that cute girl will be impressed!!"

My nephew did exactly this (don't know if a girl was involved).
Unfortunately since no glass of hot water was to hand the only alternative
(and if this ever happens to you you'll be glad you read this) was to wait
patiently until his tongue warmed up the steel enough to unfreeze it.
