Subject: [Leica] RE: Tina's print pricing

The Camera Arts article Kyle mentions is specifically about the merits of
limited edition prints, not about pricing per se. And it's written from the
standpoint of the collector, not the photographer or printer. The author
(A.D Coleman) suggests that limited editions of photographs, as opposed to
those of lithographs or etchings, can amount to a perversion of the nature
of the medium. Because, unlike with other media, the printer can always make
more prints from the same pristine source (the negative). He goes on to
suggest that edition limits should be set, for example, according to the
difficulty of printing a particular image rather than artifically for the
sake of marketing strategy. There's more to it as well...a good article.
