The classic argument is to put the LEAST amount of "stuff" between the film
and the paper..... therefore put the filters on top of the film, below the
condensers....

I am using a VC head on my D5 enlarger.  I do not have the standard
condenser head, and anyway I have gotten used to the use of a cold light
source, which on this enlarger, precludes the use of filters above the neg.

I am currently thinking about dumping the VC head, using regular filters,
either above or below the neg.... the VC head is difficult at best to get
used to....
