I'm on Emanuel's side on this one.

As Justice Douglas (US Supreme Court) stated in a noted dissent, "who will
speak for the trees?"  And JRR Tolkien drove CS Lewis to distraction when
they would walk together, as Tolkien would put his head against a tree to
commune.  Me?  I'm on Tolkien's side on this issue ...

Trees forever.  People? Hmm...
