I understood your original post (which is why I have not
posted).  If you search the archives (I don't what subject
to use), you will find that your comment about specs has
been repeated repeatedly (grin).

The problem is that the cure is often worse than the
original problem.  Nearly all of my lenses have some type of
speck in them (if you shine a light right).  If they didn't
when they were new, they developed them over time.  (I think
that the matte coating drops off).  I have never found that
this has been a problem in actual picture taking.

But it is annoying and if it actually makes a difference,
then it is time to send the lens back.
