In fact, I did this test as well--as you (or someone else) posted this
method to the LUG some time ago and I saved off the msg back then.  I found
that the focus on the 75 is indeed right on the money at 2.5, but off at
min. distance.  It's fine at infinity.

With the Hexar, it is off even at .7 meters, but the subsequent increments
have in focus shots that indicate is focusing too close by about an inch or
so.
