Money was not an issue here, since I offered to pay for their costs plus a
profit margin of any size they desired.

Leica made a terrible mistake of selling the lens at US$1,500. If they had
anticipated the production difficulties, they would have priced it
differently and it would have worked out for both the manufacturer and
consumers.

I am not really concerned how much they want to charge for this lens, I just
want to buy one. If Leica had demanded, say, $10,000, I would gladly buy
one and I would be over the moon. If they had never offered one, it would
be a different story. To make a few and decided it cannot be done, is just
not reasonable nor professional, IMHO. There are a lot of people out there
willing to pay for high quality products.

If Leica cared to charge more, they would not have lost money. My offer of
1,000 lenses is still valid, and I expect Leica want a lot more than $1,500
for each lens. The fact that the 35-70/2.8 ASPH. has been made before means
making it is not impossible. It is just difficult. The whole issue is
about costs, and I am here to overcome that issue. Perhaps there are other
reasons they are not prepared to disclose.

Anyone out there wishes to sell me one at three times the costs, as
suggested by Sal?
