Hi Paul,

They won't even entertain 'by special order' only!  It is most ironic that I
am the one who has been working so hard to promote their R series locally.
I manage to sell far more R8s than the official Leica agent here, by ten
times as much.  Now that there are thousands of R8 cameras around, there are
not enough R lenses to go with them, I mean the ones that people really
want.  I have had customers who bought into the R system because they
thought they could buy a fast standard zoom lens, just like they did with
Canon and Nikon.  I would have thought Leica had learned a lesson after the
R8 Motor Drive fiasco.  They should just swallow their pride and pass on the
VE 35-70/2.8 ASPH. design to Kyocera and let the latter take care of
everything.  The latest I heard from Leica that the VE 35-70/2.8 ASPH.
replacement will be at least two years away.  Let's hope the R series will
still be around then....
