Two points on this:

1. If you are using Image Cleanup try taking this off; and

2. Search the net for Vuescan and download it. I know many of us on this 
group find it very good. I use it with my Nikon Coolscan LS30 and find it 
superior to the Nikon software, and it has Image Cleanup technology that does 
work with b&w films.
