The phenomenon is called "Axis of rotation" ie. the longer the object the greater the movement around its center. Whether it is a lens or a gun it is the physical 
length that makes the difference. This is also why a mirror telephoto lens is easier to hand hold that a straight tele of the same focal length, it's shorter in actual 
length, less axis of rotation.
