Julian,

On the 28 at f8, if you set the focal distance on the lens to 7 feet, you
will have everything in focus from 4.3 feet to about 20 feet in front of
you--the equivalent perspective of a 50 mm lens from about 7 feet to 24
feet.  A nice sweet spot for zone focusing, and one big reason I want a 28.
