Chris,
I bought an Alpex finder too, recently.
It was for the 28mm focal length and what was really weird was that the 
ratio of the cut out window at the front was obviously not 24 x 36, could 
be the equivalent of 34mm or even 32mm, maybe it would suit those early 
Canons or Nikon rangefinders with the different format size!

I love my SBLOO 35 finder on my M3(I don't like the "eyes")
I just purchased a Alpex 35mm finder. It's even got parallex correction
on the foot. Not a bad finder for $30! Frame is the same as the Leica 35
finder.
