Yes, that blue problem is a big one. I really don't believe you can do much pleasing
underwater photography without a very good flash system. A few years ago I took a
Nikonos IVa  to the Red Sea, for several weeks of snorkling. Perfect weather outside,
plenty of sun clear water etc. Still I got very very few keepers. The camera is tough
but above water I found it less than impressive.
