The barrels on the Voigtlander lenses are made from alloy, but they are
hard-anodized and then painted. The process of hardanodizing the alloy turns
it a yellow color, somewhat in between brass and gold. The paint can chip,
particularly on the early lenses. I have a seriously "brassed" 75/2,5 and an
equally "brassed" 50/1,5. They do kind of look good on battered black paint
M2's and M3's and even start matching my Millenium M6.
