Subject: [Leica] re: internet technical question - b.d.'s stealing your domain name
From: Kyle Cassidy <cassidy@netaxs.com>
Date: Mon, 16 Apr 2001 09:44:27 -0400 (EDT)

steve asked the following about seeing his domain name in the headers of a
post by b.d. colen:

>From: "B. D. Colen" <bdcolen@earthlink.net>
>Subject: Re: [Leica] Ooooo, vacation pictures...
>Message-ID: <3AD84FF6.8992CDB0@earthlink.net>
>References: <3AD765FE.7F8D05E7@camera-craftsman.com>
>
>B.D.s was the only one where this was the case & I have never noticed
>this before. I know nothing about the inner workings of the internet
>but since I'm a digest subscriber seeing my domain in this line seems
>odd to me. B.D.s ISP and mine are totally separate. If it is necessary

this just means that b.d. was replying to a message that came from
camera-craftsman.com (you). nothing sinnister going on. the headers of an
e-mail message contain various bits of technical information that help it
not only get from one place to another, but properly identify itself and
its intentions when it gets there. here it's just making a reference to
the origional message it is in reply to.
