There's a county called Mendocino, and there is even a town called Mendocino in the area. There are lots of Spanish names in California because of its former Spanish rule over the area. Curiously, there are also a number of Russian names, as Russians were in the area, as well. > > -- > Pablo Kolodny > www.pablokolodny.com > > Mark, what does "Mendocino" mean ? > In Argentina we have a province named Mendoza...and men born or coming from > there are called mendocinos. > Did you come to Argentina for your honeymoon ? 1978 was one of the worst > years in the Argentine history...it is recalled as the year of the World > Soccer Championship and the 30,000 missing people by the hands of the > military government supported by the USA government , among other countries > governments... > I was 24 then...and while the final match (Argentina 3 vs Holland 1) was > taking place at the River Plate Stadium at only three hundred meters of the > Escuela de Mecanica de la Armada Argentina (the most well known torture > centre made up to torture what they called terrorists within Buenos Aires > city). > > Well, were you at Mendoza then ?
