Hello everyone!

I am new to this mailing list. I am very impressed with the posts on
this list and the knowledge and experience of the folks on this list,
and I am looking forward to enjoying the discussions and learning from
you all.

I have been always interested in photography, but haven't been involved
in anything more than "family photo shooting on vacations" level, so I
just started taking some beginning photography classes to pursue my
interest. I was complaining to my instructor how my pictures weren't
very sharp, and he mentioned how he had a student who had very good,
sharp pictures and that student was using Leica equipment. My
instructor's advice to me was that I would get a much better value
buying used Leica gear than buying new something else gear for similar
price ranges (from whatever I looked, the new Leica cameras are way
beyond my price range).

And, by a stroke of luck (during google search), I found this mailing
list. So, any help, advice, recommendation that you can provide for me,
a novice beginner on what camera to start with, what are the best values
out there, and where to look for them, etc., I would be very grateful
for.

I am sure that this is a frequently asked question. I have searched
quite a bit before posting this question, without much luck. Any
pointers to websites, online or offline resources, articles, etc. that
talk about this would also be very much appreciated. Thanks, and I look
forward to joining the wonderful world of Leica users.

Regards,
Satish
