Pascal,

Credit cards usually are well accepted in Germany.
However, I have had the same experience as you: Many shops wont accept a credit card for already discounted items. They feel that with the commission that they have to pay to the card company, it would give too much of a discount then. With German customers this is no problem, because virtually everyone has a EC ("electronic cash",
formerly known as "eurocheque") card that allows a money transfer with no fee or commission.
When you are in the shop, it is like "could you give me YOUR OTHER card in this case?".
Thats also how I paid for my "demo" M6.
Last week, I noticed that the department store group "Hertie/Karstadt" has a new customer discount card that
gives you an automatic 3% discount on everything that you don't pay by credit card.
I wonder how this is compatible with the agreement they have with credit card companies?

Regards,

Gerd
