that's my ICQ number. like a telephone number, only for online messaging. So
if you have an ICQ client you can send me instant messages, see when I'm
online etc. There's also a certain amount of privacy because you can
configure it so people have to ask you if they can add you to their address
books. I mainly use it to chat with friends overseas and (okay I admit it)
set up games on the internet. Like today my friend Rick in England opened a
fresh can of whupass on me at Unreal Tournament. We arranged that thru ICQ.
It also has a chat feature.

ICQ is to IRC as mailing lists are to newsgroups IMO. IRC is basically a
public forum like a bar wheras ICQ is basically a private forum like a
conference call or a party you've been invited to.

ICQ also interfaces with cellphone messaging, Palmtops etc. Eventually it'll
gel with AOL instant messaging and the M$ flavor as well I should think.

Of the two ICQ seems to be the more useful to me.
