CCDs are sensitive to the infrared spectrum. I take infrared pics with my
Nikon CoolPix 800 and an opaque 87C filter...works great, has its own unique
look. I also use Kodak's infrared films because they have their own look. As
for ortho...you can easily simulate it in Photoshop and the like. But of
course you can just use ortho film too. I certainly have no plans to toss
all my unused film into the dumpster, or even stop buying film, the second I
get a digicam that uses Leitz/Leica lenses. Digital is just another option,
and one that's likely to play an ever increasing role in the photographic
world. It makes images...have fun with it.
