Jay,

Though I've never mounted one of my SM lenses on my M6, I can say that they
never line up at "12 o'clock" on my IIIf. They are always a little "off
center," to the left (looking at the camera) I believe, though this doesn't
affect focusing, as you have seen.

I don't know why this is. I'm sure Marc could explain it.
