Subject: [Leica] Noctilux filter Questions

Luggers,

Since I sense a MAJOR debate warming up over BW printing (who does it), art,
hero worship and the like, I'd like to get my 2 part Question out before a
potential LUG meltdown/free-for-all occurs and my Q's get ignored.

#1--Noctilux. 2749xxx, detachable hood, NO 50 on barrel is version one,
correct? My understanding was that nocti's all used 60mm lens filters, but
have seen a designation 58 as well. Assuming I have version one, then does
it take a 58 or a 60mm filter size?

#2-- Alrighty now, this question isn't as rudimentary as how to load film in
M6 (a thread which incidentally got me to wondering if I hadn't been loading
my camera "properly" all this time)..... but it's close. I have a Slr lense
that takes a 72mm filter. I'd like to use a step ring so that I can use my
72mm dk red filter on both lenses. I can't conceive of, but is there any
reason why a using larger (BW) filter on the 58/60mm Nocti lense would be
"BAD."

TIA
Kim
